Music of Faith and Hope from Uganda and Haiti
Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Music of Faith and Hope from Haiti and Uganda features string quartet masterworks by Haitian American composer Jean “Rudy” Perrault and Ugandan composer Justinian Tamusuza. Their works tell the stories of the pain of being forced from one’s homeland and the hope for a better future, and of the Ugandan martyrs – the first black African saints – and how they willingly, even joyously, gave their lives for their new faith. The program also includes an intensely personal statement of faith, “Allo Seigneur” (“Hello Lord”), by Haitian composer Sabrina C D Jean Louis.
This concert is free and open to the public.
