From Street Tunes to Sufi Art Music: Celebrating Egyptian Composers

Music by Egyptian composers of yesterday and today whose works capture the spirit and diversity of Arab music! This concert will include the performance of the brand new Peace Piece by Egyptian American composer Riad Abdel-Gawad, as well as folk-inspired works by Gamal Abdel-Rahim and works by Abdo Dagher inspired by Sufi mysticism. It features Issam Rafea, oud; Maya Shiraishi, violin; Tom Clowes, cello; and Omar al Musfi, Middle Eastern percussion.
The concert is free and open to the public.
