The Third Annual CELEBRATING RESILIENCE: Music From the Unvanquished Bahá’í University of Iran
Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
free and open to the publicThe third annual “Celebrating Resilience: Music from the Unvanquished Bahá’í University of Iran” features music composed or performed by former music teachers and students who risked their safety to attend the Bahá’í Institute for Higher Education. This grassroots school was created because the Iranian government doesn’t allows Bahá’ís in Iran to enter official colleges or universities – part of a pattern of vicious government discrimination against Iranian Bahá’ís. In response, these brave musicians have created music that celebrates their faith and perseverance. Celebrate their journey with us and enjoy their beautiful music in a beautiful venue.
This program will include the world premiere performance of “Hope,” a piano trio by Badie Khaleghian.
The event marks the debut of a 6-month residency of Crossing Borders Music at the Chicago Cultural Center. This concert will take place in Preston Bradley Hall
This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency.
