Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 3:00 pm - 4:15 pm
$15With the Ashland Chamber Music Society, Crossing Borders Music shares this special concert shares music and stories of resilience of Bahá’í composers from Iran in the face of their government’s systematic persecution of members of the Bahá’í religion. Officially barred from attending college or university because of their religion, Iranian Bahá’ís and their Muslim supporters founded the Bahá’í Institute for Higher Education, a grassroots school that holds classes in living rooms and basements. At this school, in the face of government raids and faculty imprisonment and disappearance, these brave musicians learned and taught music. This concert shares their stories and their music.
The Crossing Borders Music piano trio will perform works by composers including Nikan Milani, Badie Khaleghian, and Farid Javidan.
