Solhi Al-Wadi served as Dean of the Higher Institute of Music of Damascus where he nurtured a generation of young musicians. Al-Wadi also founded the Arab Institute of Music and the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra. Malek Jandali is a German-born Syrian-American concert pianist and founder of Pianos for Peace.
