Call for Scores: African-American Women Composers

Crossing Borders Music is planning a concert of chamber music composed by African-American women composers in Chicago, IL, in March, 2019. African-American women and non-binary composers: we want to tell your stories, share your perspectives, and to program your chamber music compositions in a concert in Chicago, IL, in March, 2019. The concert will be performed by a professional string quartet (two violins, viola, and cello) and pianist. Submissions must be able to be performed on these instruments. Submitted works’ performance length should be 10 minutes or less. Selected composers will not be paid. Selected works will be performed by professional musicians for a general audience in the Chicago area, accompanied by information about their inspirations and how their cultural background shapes their composition. Submissions should be sent to info@CrossingBordersMusic.org in pdf format. One to two selected composers will be announced on the Crossing Borders Music social media and Crossing Borders Music website. Scores must be received by November 19, 2018.
